Bryophytes are a group of small plants that include the mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. Bryophytes are important indicators of environmental health and ecosystem function and thrive in every niche, from dry rock outcrops and sand barrens to carbon-rich wetlands. Bryophytes are ecosystem engineers and important components of Muskoka's landscape.
