Helle Tosine - Director

Helle Tosine’s love of nature led her to study environmental chemistry at McMaster and York Universities, working as a scientist at federal and provincial governments with a focus on toxic substances, then moving on to leading development of policies and legislation. Most recently, Helle served as an Assistant Deputy Minister in the Ontario government, and as Chair of the Board of Governors, Royal Canadian Institute for Science. She brings her wide experience in governance, risk management, compliance matters and working with not-for-profits to the Muskoka Conservancy Board. Helle continues to provide strategic and policy advice to Boards and senior executives as a consultant. She has contributed to the Toronto Estonian community children’s programs, has taught environmental policy at York University and Western University, and in her spare time travels, bikes, hikes, kayaks, and spends time with her family at their cottage near Parry Sound. She has a MSc and ICD.D designation. Helle chairs the Governance and HR Committee of the Board.
